Draper Library 84KB

The Draper Library used to be downstairs in the former Draper City Complex, originally an old school. It grew from a reading room into a full-service library in 1997. Since that time, Draper's population has doubled and is expected to double again by 2020, stretching the Draper Library to its limits. While wanting to retain the feel of a "hometown" library, the design/build team of MHTN Architects and Layton Construction had high standards for sustainability, aiming toward a Silver LEED Certification.

Central Park Public Library 38KB

On April 19, 2004, the City of Santa Clara made history with the opening of the new Central Park Library, a “green” project. The 80,000 square foot, $43 million facility will minimize negative environmental impacts— no easy feat in what will be the second largest public library in the South Bay, and the largest capital project in the City of Santa Clara's history.

San Mateo Public Library 117KB

The City of San Mateo required a much larger and technological saavy library. The old library had only half the space needed to serve a population of 92,000. Its power and mechanical systems were unable to meet the demands of changing technology. So when the City decided to build a new facility, their goal was to build a library with the flexibility that would stand the test of time, provide a comfortable atmosphere......Tate Access Floors’ underfloor service distribution fit the bill.

East Atlanta Library 102KB

East Atlanta Library uses the latest LEED technologies to conserve resources! The East Atlanta library, built in 1949, was a small building which served the needs of the community for many years. However, the needs of the community outgrew the library’s facilities, plus the building itself needed a lot of maintenance. The result: the first building in Fulton County built by USGBC’s LEED criteria! Fulton County officials hope it will receive a LEED Silver rating.....

Santa Monica Public Library 73KB

A “green” building places high priority on health, environment, and resource conservation over the life of the building and Tate provides the expertise to utilize its underfloor service distribution as a key ingredient to a building’s green design. As a green building, the new Santa Monica Library offers many benefits while providing an inviting, friendly and comfortable place for library users of all ages. One of these benefits is an underfloor air system......

Elmhurst Public Library 112KB

Since 1922, the Elmhurst Public Library has been located in Wilder Park in the center of Elmhurst, a suburban Chicago community. When the library outgrew its old home, a site at the north end of the park was selected for a new building. The architects’ goal was to create a design in harmony with the park and a complement to Elmhurst’s emerging “cultural campus."

Salt Lake City Public Library 85KB

Salt Lake City Public Library complex is central to a new mixed use development in the city's downtown area. Flexibility of building use, energy efficiency and consideration of seismic activity were all important to the final design. Flexibility is achieved through an open plenum HVAC system housed in a raised floor for easy reconfiguration of cables and air supply.
