Architectural Record Selects Tate® Hardwood Floor Tiles as Top Product of 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JESSUP, MD, December 30, 2009

Tiles featured in publication’s Product Report 2009

A panel of editors, consultants and architects convened by Architectural Record, a leading architecture and interior design publication, recently selected Tate® hardwood floor tiles as one of the top products of 2009.

In recognition of this achievement, Tate hardwood floor tiles are featured in Product Report 2009, a major editorial feature in the December issue of Architectural Record. In its 37th year, this prestigious annual report showcases the year’s most innovative and useful products for architects, specifiers and designers. Tate hardwood floor tiles were reviewed in the Finishes category, one of 20 categories available to entrants.

“We’re quite proud of this accomplishment,” said Scott Alwine, marketing manager at Tate. “It’s affirming the value of having a wide range of finishes for raised floor applications when a panel of industry experts recognizes both the aesthetic and environmental benefits of our hardwood tiles.”

Introduced at NeoCon World’s Trade Fair 2009, Tate’s engineered hardwood tiles feature a 3 mm natural wood laminate bonded to an 11 mm Versacore™ wood veneer backer. Available in four standard patterns, the new laminate can be made from a variety of species of hardwoods in optional strip sizes.

When installed, the 24 x 24-inch tiles reflect the variations of grain pattern and color found in natural wood – premium characteristics that identify the history of the living material and speak of quality and prestige. Tate’s engineered hardwood tiles also contribute to indoor air quality. The VOC-free tiles do not require harsh chemicals. Routine maintenance is a simple process of sweeping and damp mopping with oil soap. The floor’s botanical oil finish allows the wood to breathe, absorbing and neutralizing odors while allowing moisture and humidity to escape. The floor’s absorbent veneer further contributes to noise reduction.
